Bright sparks: Draft regulation on mandatory energy reporting

12 June 2015

12 June 2015 was the closing date for submissions on a government gazette on the development of an Energy Efficiency Monitoring System (EEMS), which proposes the requirement of manufacturers to submit detailed data on their energy consumption and energy efficiency plans.

According to the gazette, published on March 27, 2015, certain manufacturers will be required to report to the Department of Energy within 30 days of the end of each financial year on the implementation of the energy management plan, and the report must at least include:

  • Annual energy efficiency savings achieved;
  • Energy efficiency measures implemented; and
  • Any barriers encountered in trying to achieve the performance improvement anticipated.
